NATO chief backs US airstrikes on Iran after ceasefire claims

Ankara (Lord Media): NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has expressed support for the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran, stating that the military action was necessary following alleged ceasefire violations. Speaking to journalists in Ankara ahead of the NATO summit, Rutte emphasized the importance of a strong U.S. response when a ceasefire is breached.

Rutte remarked that in his view, Iran’s violation of the ceasefire warranted an immediate and effective U.S. response to prevent further deterioration and maintain regional stability.

The NATO chief’s statement comes as the U.S. has launched fresh airstrikes on Iran. Washington claims the actions were in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and alleged ceasefire breaches.

Meanwhile, Iran has condemned the U.S. strikes as illegal aggression, asserting its right to respond appropriately to defend its sovereignty and national security.

Analysts suggest that NATO’s open support for U.S. actions indicates the Western alliance’s alignment with Washington’s stance, although the escalating tensions in the region pose concerns for global security and energy markets.
