Srinagar (Lord Media): The 10th anniversary of the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani, a prominent figure in the Kashmir freedom movement, is being observed. Wani began his struggle against Indian occupation in 2010 at the age of 15, using social media to counter Indian propaganda and promote the Kashmiri narrative.
On July 8, 2016, Burhan Wani was martyred by Indian occupying forces, sparking mass protests with millions of Kashmiris taking to the streets. His martyrdom infused new energy and determination into the Kashmiri freedom movement.
Despite pressure from Indian forces, Wani chose the path of resistance, leveraging the digital age to bring global attention to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
The sacrifices of Burhan Wani and other Kashmiri martyrs remain integral to the ongoing struggle for self-determination, which continues to this day.
