Lahore (Lord Media): The likelihood of national cricketers participating in foreign leagues in August has diminished as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to hold a four-team One Day tournament during the same period. Work is underway to select players for this tournament.
The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is scheduled from August 7 to September 20, and several national cricketers require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB to participate. Players have been informed that participation in the domestic One Day tournament is mandatory for white-ball cricketers.
Although Maaz Sadaqat had previously been issued an NOC, the decision to hold the tournament now makes his participation unlikely. It is also expected that Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, Saad Masood, Usman Khan, and Salman Irshad will not receive NOCs for the CPL.
The PCB has decided to organize the tournament due to an increased number of One Day matches in the upcoming season before the World Cup. The board aims to identify strong players for the One Day squad ahead of the mega event.
