Tehran (Lord Media): The funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Martyr Seyed Ali Khamenei, is underway in Tehran, with millions expected to attend. The funeral procession will cover a route approximately 10 kilometers long and is expected to last around 10 to 12 hours.
According to Iranian state media, the procession began at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla Mosque, where Khamenei’s body was placed for public viewing. The procession will pass through Damavand Street, Imam Hussein Square, Enghelab Square, and Azadi Square, reaching near Mehrabad International Airport.
Officials have stated that strict security measures have been implemented during the procession, and several major roads have been closed. Special arrangements for traffic and public transport have been made in anticipation of the large turnout.
After the procession, Khamenei’s body will be transferred to the holy city of Qom for further religious ceremonies. Subsequently, he will be taken to Mashhad for burial within the Imam Reza Shrine complex.
Political and religious observers describe this as one of the largest public mourning events in Iran’s recent history, with millions expected to participate from across the country.
