Smoke-emitting vehicle drivers face licence suspension in Lahore

Lahore (Lord Media): Under the anti-smog campaign in Lahore, a crackdown has been initiated on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore has decided to suspend the licenses of drivers of smoke-emitting vehicles.

CTO Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that both the driving licenses and route permits of commercial vehicles will be suspended. He emphasized that strict measures are necessary for public health and safety.

In Lahore, the entry of trolleys and dumpers carrying sand and soil without a cover is banned. Legal actions are being taken against violators. In the current fiscal year, challan tickets have been issued to 114,378 smoke-emitting vehicles.

During the anti-smog campaign, 1,401 cases have been registered, and actions have been taken against 53,599 vehicles spreading pollution by transporting sand, soil, and other materials uncovered.

An artificial intelligence system is also being used to issue challans to smoke-emitting vehicles, with a zero-tolerance policy being enforced against polluting vehicles.
