Mumbai battered by torrential rains, life disrupted across city

Mumbai (Lord Media): Torrential rains in Mumbai, Maharashtra, have disrupted daily life, with approximately 200 millimeters of rain recorded in various parts of the city over a 12-hour period. The heavy downpour resulted in flooding of low-lying areas, causing damage to trees and houses, and affecting train services as several roads caved in.

Continuous rainfall also disrupted normalcy in Thane, Palghar, Navi Mumbai, and Pune regions. According to media reports, landslides occurred in Pune, impacting connecting roads, while residents of affected areas were relocated to safer locations.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that the eastern suburbs of the city received an average of 186 millimeters of rain between 8 AM and 8 PM, while the western suburbs recorded 168 millimeters, and the island city saw 129 millimeters of rainfall.

In the Vikhroli West area, more than 260 millimeters of rain was recorded over 12 hours, with Powai, Bhandup, Malad, Kandivali, Jogeshwari, and Andheri receiving over 210 millimeters.
