FIFA World Cup knockout stage begins today

City (Lord Media): The second knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off today as the final 16 teams compete in the pre-quarterfinals to continue their quest for the title. Following the conclusion of the group stage and the round of 32, the host nations United States, Canada, and Mexico, along with Brazil, Paraguay, Morocco, Norway, France, England, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Egypt, Argentina, and Colombia have qualified for the next stage.

The pre-quarterfinal matches begin today with Canada facing Morocco, while Paraguay will take on France. On July 5, Brazil will face Norway, and Mexico will compete against England.

On July 6, Portugal will play against Spain, and the United States will face Belgium. The last two matches will be held on July 7, with Argentina competing against Egypt and Switzerland facing Colombia. The winners of these matches will advance to the quarterfinals.
