AJK acting president’s nomination rejected

Muzaffarabad (Lord Media): The nomination papers of Acting President Chaudhry Latif Akbar have been rejected during the scrutiny process for the 2026 general elections of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The decision followed a petition filed by rival candidate Saqib Majeed Raja, who claimed that Chaudhry Latif Akbar was ineligible to contest the elections due to holding a constitutional position.

The returning officer heard arguments from both parties, with Chaudhry Latif Akbar represented by Chaudhry Shaukat Advocate. After considering the arguments, the returning officer announced the rejection of the nomination papers.

The scrutiny of nomination papers is ongoing across various constituencies for the AJK elections.
