Karachi (Lord Media): Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem has called for an increase in salaries for private sector employees. During a press conference in Karachi, he stated that half of the government’s budget is spent on interest payments, and the government is not serious about eliminating interest. He further noted that the budget only increased salaries by 7%, while inflation rose by 8%, leaving no relief for the private sector.
Hafiz Naeem accused the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of being a killer of democracy, stating that PPP and democracy are opposites, with the party holding power in the province for 18 years. He highlighted the lack of education and health facilities in interior Sindh and the shortage of public transport services.
He also accused the use of tax money for vote buying in Gilgit-Baltistan and condemned the imposition of levies on petrol as unjust. He suggested that petrol prices should be fixed at 225 rupees for three years.
