Cairo (Lord Media): Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah’s stellar performance led Egypt to a 3-1 victory over New Zealand, securing their first World Cup win. The match, played on Sunday, saw Egypt make a remarkable comeback after conceding the first goal, completely turning the game around in the second half. With this victory, Egypt now tops Group G in the FIFA World Cup with four points, strengthening their chances of advancing to the next stage.
In the first half, New Zealand started strong, applying pressure on Egypt with long passes and solid defensive play. New Zealand’s Finn Surman scored the opening goal with a powerful header from a corner kick, outmaneuvering the Egyptian defense.
At one point in the first half, New Zealand’s Callum McCowatt also posed a threat with a header, but the Egyptian goalkeeper managed to save it.
In the second half, Egypt adopted an aggressive approach, and in the 58th minute, Mostafa Ziko equalized the score with a header from a beautiful cross by Mohamed Hany from the right.
The game then completely shifted, with Mohamed Salah showcasing his class. In the 67th minute, he executed a swift attack, playing a one-two with Mostafa Ziko, and elegantly placed the ball in the far corner to give Egypt the lead.
Salah attempted a second goal in the 81st minute, but his shot deflected out. However, from the resulting corner, substitute Mahmoud Trezeguet scored with a header, making it 3-1.
After the match, Salah expressed his joy, stating that it was a significant team achievement. “It’s a great win, a fantastic feeling. The next match is very important,” he said.
