US-Iran technical talks to be held in Switzerland following Islamabad memorandum: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, June 20 (LORD): Technical-level talks involving representatives of the United States and Iran, along with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, will be held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21 as a follow-up to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.

The Foreign Office said the discussions are aimed at advancing the understandings reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed as part of efforts to ease tensions and promote dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

Representatives from the United States and Iran will participate in the talks alongside mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, the statement said.

Pakistan will continue to facilitate the process in its role as mediator, with the objective of supporting the implementation of the understandings reached under the memorandum, the ministry added.

The technical-level discussions are expected to focus on mechanisms and practical steps related to the commitments outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

The announcement comes a day after the signing of the memorandum, which marked a significant diplomatic development in efforts to promote dialogue and stability in the region. LORD
