Pakistan’s inflation rises by 15.28 pct annually

Islamabad (Lord Media): Pakistan’s weekly inflation has surged by 15.28% on an annual basis, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. The increase is attributed to rising food prices.

Key contributors to the inflation include a 44.73% rise in petrol prices, 44.39% in diesel, 59.40% in electricity tariffs, 58.72% in flour, and 52.66% in LPG.

Significant price hikes were observed in onions, tomatoes, potatoes, mutton, beef, and flour. On a weekly basis, there was a 0.46% increase compared to the previous week.

Items with the highest price increases include tomatoes at 16.65%, potatoes at 6.82%, chicken at 5.60%, washing soap at 1.16%, and jaggery at 0.65%.

Conversely, some items saw a price decrease, including onions at 2.98%, garlic at 2.51%, bananas at 1.28%, petrol at 1.06%, and mash lentils at 1.04%.

The federal government announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices last night, which is expected to impact inflation in the coming week.
