New York (Lord Media): During a United Nations General Assembly event, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon told senior UN official Pramila Patten to ‘stay quiet’ as she attempted to raise a point of order. The incident occurred at an event marking the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The Israeli envoy criticized Patten for publishing a report documenting sexual violence against Palestinians and demanded her resignation.
Danon accused Patten of succumbing to the UN Secretary-General’s obsession with targeting Israel.
Vanessa Frazier, the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, attempted to intervene, prompting Danon to say, ‘No, you stay quiet because I am speaking now.’
Frazier responded that it should not be personal. Danon replied, ‘You don’t need to bully us, we are a member state and you work for the UN, and now you remain silent.’
It is noteworthy that Vanessa Frazier had published a report blacklisting the Israeli military for human rights violations against Palestinian children.
