Islamabad (Lord Media): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has called for a 10% increase in the salaries of government employees. Speaking during the National Assembly session, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf highlighted that government employees, pensioners, and those involved in agriculture are immediately impacted by the budget and often remain under pressure.
Ashraf further noted that the business community also faces challenges, as they raise product prices in line with inflation, ultimately affecting consumers.
He urged the government to increase the proposed 7% salary raise to 10%, reminding that in the past, salaries and pensions were increased by up to 100%.
According to the Finance Minister, the economic growth rate for the upcoming fiscal year is expected to be 4%, with an average inflation rate of 8.2%. As reported by Punjab Finance Minister Shuja Rehman, 10% of the total budget is allocated to the health sector.
