Islamabad (Lord Media): The government has decided to fully digitize the passport system, including a home delivery service. A special meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was held at the Passport and Immigration Headquarters, where several decisions regarding significant reforms in the passport system were made.
The meeting reached a principal decision to transition passport issuance entirely to e-passports, aiming to eliminate fraud and forgery. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the use of modern technology will enhance transparency and provide better facilities to citizens.
Citizens availing premium services will be required to pay fees according to passport costs. Initial work for home delivery of passports both domestically and internationally has been completed, and this process will commence soon.
From July 1, a cashless system will be implemented across passport offices nationwide. The decision was also made to transfer online passport applications to the Pak ID platform to simplify the application process.
The Federal Interior Minister instructed the finalization of the business passport policy in consultation with the FBR. DG Passports and Immigration Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed on the reform measures.
