Assembly approves telecom infrastructure bill

Islamabad (Lord Media): The National Assembly has approved a bill allowing telecommunication companies to install towers and lay optical fibers on private and government properties.

Under this bill, private property owners and government institutions will be required to provide space for telecommunication infrastructure.

A fine of 50 million rupees will be imposed on any private owner, tenant, or institution that obstructs a mobile phone or telecommunication company from laying optical fibers or installing towers.

The bill will now be presented in the Senate for further approval.
