City (Lord Media): The FIFA World Cup 2026 has set a new global record for single-day attendance. On June 16, a total of 281,223 spectators attended four matches, marking the highest number of fans in a single day in World Cup history.

According to FIFA, record numbers of fans attended matches involving France, Senegal, Iraq, Norway, Argentina, Algeria, Austria, and Jordan. This surpasses the previous record of 277,070 spectators set during the 1994 World Cup.

In the first six days of the 2026 World Cup, 1,309,652 spectators have attended matches, with an average attendance of 65,483 per match. FIFA stated that if this pace continues, a new overall attendance record could be set by the end of the group stage.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that June 16, 2026, has become a memorable day in World Cup history, with fans bringing color, excitement, and a memorable atmosphere to the tournament.

Argentina’s Lionel Messi scored in the 17th, 60th, and 76th minutes, becoming the oldest player to score a hat-trick in World Cup history at 38 years and 357 days old.
