Supreme Court approves 100% utility allowance hike

Islamabad (Lord Media): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved a 100% increase in utility allowances for its employees, effective from July 1, 2026. According to a notification issued following the approval by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, allowances for employees in grades 1 to 6 have been raised from 6,000 to 12,000 rupees, while those in grades 7 to 10 will see an increase from 8,000 to 16,000 rupees.

For employees in grades 11 to 15, the allowance has been increased from 10,000 to 20,000 rupees. Officers in grade 16 will receive an allowance of 24,000 rupees, up from 12,000, and grade 17 officers will have their allowance set at 30,000 rupees, doubling from 15,000.

The notification further states that officers in grade 18 will receive an allowance of 36,000 rupees, up from 18,000. Grade 19 officers will have their allowance increased from 21,000 to 42,000 rupees, and grade 20 officers will see an increase from 24,000 to 48,000 rupees. Officers in grade 21 and above will receive 60,000 rupees, up from 30,000.

The allowance covers gas and electricity expenses, and the additional costs will be met from the approved budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
