Islamabad (Lord Media): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that sustainable regional and global peace is essential for the economic development of Pakistan and other countries. During a meeting with female members of the PML-N in parliament, he stated that the government has sincerely taken steps for peace since the onset of tensions.
The Prime Minister further noted that during the recent crisis, the cabinet and state institutions initiated sacrifices, and with the cooperation of federal and provincial governments, a historic package was provided for the middle and economically weaker sections.
Shehbaz Sharif clarified that efforts were made to shield the public from the global wave of inflation, and due to better planning, the public was spared from distress. He mentioned that no crisis occurred in the country, nor were there long queues for fuel.
He stated that a subsidy of 128 billion rupees and an austerity campaign were launched to alleviate public hardships, with complete cooperation from federal and provincial authorities to stabilize the national economy.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of public cooperation in stabilizing the national economy and said that despite the challenging economic situation, a public-friendly budget was presented, which would accelerate industrial activity and promote an export-based economy.
