Section 144 imposed in Punjab for Muharram

Lahore (Lord Media): Section 144 has been imposed across Punjab due to security concerns during Muharram. The Punjab Home Department has enforced this from June 17 to June 26, including seven types of restrictions.

According to the notification, only approved processions and gatherings will be held during Muharram, and the display of weapons and inflammable materials in public places is prohibited.

There is also a ban on provocative slogans, statements inciting sectarian or ethnic hatred, and the construction of barricades on rooftops along procession routes.

The collection of stones, bricks, bottles, or garbage on rooftops of buildings along procession routes, and the presence of spectators on rooftops or shop verandas is also prohibited.

All restrictions, except for elderly citizens, women, law enforcement personnel, and double riding, will apply from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram, while the ban on double riding will be enforced on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
