With these two goals, Mbappe has surpassed two legendary footballers, Pele and Lionel Messi, in World Cup goals. Mbappe’s tally now stands at 14, while Messi scored 13 and Pele 12.
This marks Mbappe’s third World Cup, and he has matched Gerd Müller’s record of 14 goals. He is now third on the World Cup goals list, with Miroslav Klose leading at 16 goals and Ronaldo at 15.
Mbappe has also become France’s top scorer with 58 goals, surpassing Olivier Giroud’s 57. This match was his 99th international appearance.
