Lahore (Lord Media): The Punjab cabinet has approved a budget of 5903 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2026-27. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, saw Provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman presenting the budget details.
The budget proposes an allocation of 752 billion rupees for developmental projects, along with a 7% increase in pensions and salaries for government employees. Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, along with other provincial ministers and officials, attended the meeting.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that Punjab has contributed the most to the federal government in defense and other sectors. She emphasized the commitment to provide relief to the public despite a reduced NFC share.
Reiterating her commitment to public service, Maryam Nawaz Sharif asserted that there will be no compromise on the development journey of Punjab’s citizens.
