Islamabad (Lord Media): Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, addressing the National Assembly, stated that Pakistan’s military has defeated an enemy five times its size, emphasizing that the sacrifices of the soldiers will bear fruit.
He opposed point-scoring over terrorism issues stemming from Afghanistan, noting that Pakistani soldiers are being martyred by those whom the country hosted for years.
Khawaja Asif highlighted a significant diplomatic achievement for Pakistan, particularly mentioning the Iran-U.S. agreement, which has bolstered Pakistan’s stature. He added that the easing of sanctions on Iran would benefit Balochistan.
The minister mentioned that negotiations with Afghanistan over terrorism, facilitated by Qatar and Turkiye, were held but did not yield fruitful results. Several meetings with Afghan leadership occurred, but they were unwilling to provide guarantees.
Khawaja Asif stressed the importance of establishing peace in Balochistan, stating that if roads are not safe today, it is the responsibility of the assembly. He labeled Afghanistan as a source of terrorism and remarked that everyone, including the U.S., used Pakistan and left, leaving the country to face the consequences.
