Kuwait (Lord Media): Kuwait has announced the revocation of citizenship for an additional 2,192 individuals as part of its ongoing citizenship review campaign. According to Kuwaiti media reports, this decision has come into effect following its publication in the official gazette.
The ‘citizenship review campaign’, ongoing for two years in Kuwait, reassesses the procedures and legal status for obtaining citizenship. Thousands have already had their citizenship revoked during this campaign.
Official statistics indicate that approximately 50,000 individuals had their Kuwaiti citizenship revoked in 2025, with the latest action further increasing the number of affected individuals.
Kuwaiti authorities assert that these actions are in accordance with national laws, while critics express concern over the social and humanitarian impacts.
Kuwait’s campaign is considered the largest citizenship review initiative in the region, drawing attention locally and internationally.
