Lahore (Lord Media): The Lahore High Court has rejected the appeal of convict Ahmed against his death sentence for the rape and murder of a woman, upholding the trial court’s decision. The bench, comprising Justice Farooq Haider and Justice Ali Zia Bajwa, stated that the convict deserves exemplary punishment.
The court noted that there is substantial evidence against the convict, and the prosecution has proven its charges. The case was registered in 2021 at the Factory Area police station in Sheikhupura, and the trial court sentenced him to death in 2023.
According to the prosecution, the convict took the victim near a canal, raped her, and then set her on fire by pouring petrol. The woman, in a severely injured state, gave a statement against the accused in the hospital.
During the investigation, the police recovered items related to the convict, strengthening the prosecution’s case. After reviewing all evidence, the court ordered the maintenance of the convict’s sentence.
