PM claims economy stable despite challenges

Islamabad (Lord Media): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the country’s economy remains stable despite current challenges. During a federal cabinet meeting, he noted that inflation has decreased from 38 percent to single digits over the past two years.

The Prime Minister explained that inflation had risen due to crises in Gulf countries, but the banks’ policy rate has dropped from 22.5 percent to 11 percent.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that despite facing challenges, the economy is stable, and following the budget presentation, economic activity will accelerate. He stressed the need for investment in alternative energy sources.

The Prime Minister also provided details of discussions with provinces, including talks with Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He mentioned that the federal government requires additional funds and negotiations with the provinces are ongoing.

He expressed commitment to being prepared for defense and water security challenges and described the dialogue with the IMF as positive.
