Riyadh (Lord Media): Saudi Arabia has discovered 1,774 ancient relics during archaeological investigations at historical sites, including an inscription bearing the name of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA). According to the Heritage Commission, the second phase of the survey in the Medina region was completed in the Al-Mahd Governorate, where 156 new artifacts were found in Al-Suwaireqiyah, Al-Muwaihia, and Hada, highlighting the historical significance of these areas.
The commission explained that these discoveries are evidence of centuries-long human settlements and interconnected civilizations. Under Saudi Vision 2030, these projects will continue to preserve cultural heritage.
In a related effort, over 1,700 artifacts were also discovered at Al-Juhfa Miqat, located 187 kilometers northwest of Mecca, during joint research with the University of Exeter. These artifacts include ancient kilns, water distribution systems, and items from Egypt, Syria, and Ethiopia, indicating its importance as a key stop for pilgrims during the early Islamic period.
