Sarfraz Ahmed retained as head coach for tours

Lahore (Lord Media): Sarfraz Ahmed, the head coach of the national cricket team, has been given the green light by the board for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England. The 39-year-old former Test wicketkeeper, who has played 54 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 61 T20s for Pakistan, remains in his position despite the recent defeat in Bangladesh.

The future of Test team captain Shan Masood is uncertain, although he has scored 2,653 runs in 46 Test matches and under his leadership, the national team has lost 12 out of 16 Tests. Shan Masood recently met with PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

All-rounder Salman Ali Agha has emerged as a potential replacement for Shan Masood, having scored 1,663 runs in 25 Tests. Despite having the support of the selection committee, questions arise about his leadership due to his lack of experience in England tours.

The PCB think tank is considering his leadership, especially given the challenging England tour, where Shan Masood has experience leading English counties Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
