Islamabad (Lord Media): PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that fulfilling the defense budget is the responsibility of the federation, emphasizing it as a constitutional and significant matter that should not be politicized. Speaking to the media at the Parliament House, he urged the federal government not to shift its responsibilities onto the provinces.
Barrister Gohar criticized the federal government, claiming it has failed over the past four years, particularly in implementing reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue, which has adversely affected the business community. He further accused the government of taking the highest loans in the country’s history.
He stressed that after the 18th Amendment, provinces should receive their full share, and the process through the NFC should not be circumvented by any other means.
Barrister Gohar also remarked that the country’s defense should be invincible against any adversary.
With Punjab’s concession, the federation will be able to meet its financial deficit and IMF targets. According to sources, all four provinces have agreed to provide the federation with 1,200 to 1,700 billion U.S. dollars, deemed necessary in light of Pakistan’s strategic threats.
