A China–Arab Partnership Conference held under the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum concluded in Cairo on Wednesday with the adoption of an outcome document outlining expanded cooperation between media organisations, think tanks, and institutions from both sides.
The conference, jointly organised by Xinhua News Agency and the League of Arab States, brought together around 250 representatives from approximately 110 media outlets, government bodies, research institutions, enterprises and international organisations across China and the Arab region.
According to the concluding document, participants agreed to strengthen collaboration in media communication, promote the role of journalism in supporting peace, and expand practical cooperation across multiple sectors. The statement also emphasised the importance of developing shared narratives and enhancing coordination in media technology and digital transformation.
The document included proposals for concrete initiatives aimed at deepening institutional linkages between Chinese and Arab media organisations, as well as strengthening cooperation among policy research institutions and think tanks.
Organisers said the event builds on the Global South Media and Think Tank Network for Communication and Cooperation, an initiative launched in 2024. The network has reportedly expanded rapidly, now bringing together more than 1,000 organisations from 95 countries and regions, including media outlets, think tanks, government agencies and international bodies.
Officials described the Cairo conference as part of broader efforts to foster development consensus and promote what was termed a China–Arab community with a shared future, particularly through increased communication and knowledge exchange.
Participants highlighted the growing role of digital platforms and emerging technologies in reshaping global media ecosystems, and stressed the need for cooperation to adapt to rapid technological change.
