Xi Jinping meets UNESCO chief in Beijing

Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Khaled El-Enany in Beijing on Tuesday, according to Chinese state media.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between China and UNESCO in the fields of education, science, culture and global development initiatives.

During the talks, both sides discussed the importance of promoting inclusive education, particularly efforts aimed at improving access to learning opportunities for girls and women, as well as advancing cultural exchange and knowledge-sharing at the international level.

President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s support for UNESCO’s global mission and emphasized continued cooperation in education and cultural development projects.

UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany appreciated China’s longstanding partnership with the organisation and highlighted Beijing’s contribution to global education and cultural initiatives.

Both sides agreed to further deepen collaboration and strengthen multilateral engagement to support sustainable development goals in education and cultural preservation worldwide.
