China has issued a strong warning against a series of export control bills recently advanced in the United States House of Representatives, saying the measures could disrupt global trade and technology supply chains.
According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Commerce, the legislation passed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including the Multilateral Alignment of Technology Controls on Hardware (MATCH) Act—reflects an “over-extension” of national security concepts and misuse of export control tools.
The ministry spokesperson said that if enacted, the proposed bills could seriously undermine the international economic and trade order and destabilise global semiconductor production and supply chains.
Beijing said it would closely monitor the legislative process in the US and assess potential impacts on Chinese industries and firms.
The spokesperson further warned that China would take “resolute and necessary measures” to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its companies in response to any restrictive actions.
The development adds to ongoing tensions between the two largest economies over technology access, chip manufacturing, and strategic trade restrictions, particularly in the semiconductor sector.
