Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday extended congratulations to Nizar Amedi on assuming office as the new President of Iraq, expressing Beijing’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
In his message, Xi said China and Iraq share a long-standing traditional friendship and have steadily deepened political trust in recent years. He noted that both countries continue to support each other on issues involving their core interests and major concerns.
Xi highlighted that cooperation between the two sides has delivered positive outcomes in key sectors, particularly energy, as well as economic and trade relations.
Reaffirming Beijing’s diplomatic priorities, Xi said he attaches high importance to the development of China-Iraq relations and expressed readiness to work closely with the new Iraqi leadership.
He added that both sides should advance their strategic partnership to higher levels, with the aim of delivering greater benefits to the peoples of both countries through expanded cooperation and mutual development.
