Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the continued normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing the importance of regional stability and uninterrupted global shipping flows.
Xi made the remarks during a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, where both leaders discussed bilateral relations and the evolving situation in the Middle East and Gulf region.
He said China attaches great importance to its relations with Saudi Arabia and consistently follows the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit in its foreign policy.
Highlighting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China–Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership, Xi expressed Beijing’s readiness to deepen strategic trust, expand practical cooperation, and strengthen high-level exchanges to further broaden bilateral ties and set an example for China–Arab relations.
On regional developments, Xi called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, urging all parties to halt hostilities and support efforts aimed at restoring peace through political and diplomatic means.
He emphasized that normal passage through the Strait of Hormuz serves the shared interests of both regional countries and the wider international community, adding that China supports regional states in building a cooperative and secure environment based on development, stability, and self-determination.
