Pakistani authorities and the Iranian embassy on Tuesday dismissed circulating media reports and social media claims suggesting that a second round of talks between the United States and Iran would be held in Islamabad in the coming days, terming them unfounded.
Senior Pakistani officials from at least three key departments told LORD that no such arrangements were in place and no formal schedule had been agreed upon for hosting another round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran in the federal capital.
They reiterated that Pakistan remains willing to facilitate dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting and comprehensive resolution to ongoing tensions, but clarified that there has been no development indicating a fresh round of talks in Islamabad in the immediate future.
“There is no confirmation or planning at this stage for holding such engagements again after a short gap,” one official said, rejecting claims of imminent discussions over the weekend or early next week.
When contacted by Lord, certain strong quarters also rejected the reports and said that such baseless speculations about talks must be stopped.
Separately, Hadi Golriz, Head of the Press Section at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, also categorically denied the reports when contacted by LORD.
“Absolutely baseless,” he said, adding that while future rounds of talks could take place “anytime and anywhere,” there is currently nothing official to suggest that Islamabad will host them in the near term.
The denials come amid heightened regional attention on potential diplomatic engagements between the United States and Iran, with speculation intensifying following earlier contacts aimed at easing tensions.
Officials stressed that any future developments regarding such talks would be communicated through official channels once finalized.
