China on Tuesday called on all parties to exercise restraint and promote dialogue amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, warning that prolonged conflict would serve no one’s interests.
“The prolonged war and escalating conflict do not serve anyone’s interest,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing, urging all sides to play a constructive role in easing the situation and advancing peace talks.
Her remarks came in response to comments by Donald Trump, who stated that Iran could be “taken out” in one night and referred to a deadline for Tehran to reach a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Mao Ning stressed that China maintains its consistent position in favor of peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and consultation, adding that escalating confrontation risks further destabilizing the region and affecting global stability.
Beijing has repeatedly emphasized the importance of diplomacy in addressing tensions surrounding Iran, particularly as concerns grow over the potential impact on regional security and international energy routes.
