ISLAMABAD, June 22 (LORD): Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards have seized a large consignment of narcotics worth approximately 215 million U.S. dollars during a joint intelligence-based operation near the coast of Gwadar, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Navy on Monday.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) in the Pishukan area near Gwadar’s coastline. Authorities confiscated 1,500 kilograms of hashish and 500 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice.
According to the statement, the narcotics consignment was being transported through the Arabian Sea to international destinations when it was intercepted by law enforcement agencies.
The seized drugs have been handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings and investigation.
The Pakistan Navy said the successful operation demonstrated the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in combating drug trafficking and other illicit maritime activities.
The statement added that the operation reflected the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to preventing the use of the country’s maritime domain for smuggling and other unlawful activities.
Pakistan’s maritime security forces regularly conduct intelligence-based operations along the country’s coastline to counter narcotics trafficking, smuggling, and other transnational crimes.
