Lahore (Lord Media): The dispute between textile mill owners and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) over camera installations has intensified. The FBR has instructed textile mills to install cameras at their own expense, but the mill owners have refused to bear the cost.
Sources from the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) have revealed that textile owners are threatening to shut down factories if forced to install cameras. They argue that while the FBR aims to curb tax evasion through these installations, the financial burden should not fall on the owners.
Factory owners further stated that just as Safe City cameras issue fines without consumer costs, the FBR should also cover the expenses of camera installations. It was also suggested that not only textile mills but also ginning and spinning mills should be included, as they could generate more tax revenue.
