Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States will occur soon.
The talks, initially set for Switzerland on Friday, were postponed due to Muharram observances, sad the foreign minister.
Dar stated that the negotiation process will resume after Muharram, with efforts to advance discussions continuing over the next 60 days. Teams sent to Switzerland have been recalled following the postponement.
Pakistan will participate in future events related to these talks when invited. Dar plans to attend the funeral prayers of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Switzerland confirmed early Friday that the US-Iran peace talks scheduled for that day were canceled. The accord aimed to end the conflict in Iran, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and initiate a 60-day dialogue on broader issues, including Tehran’s nuclear program.
Meanwhile, the agreement was also intended to halt fighting in Lebanon, but Israel’s military announced new strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Friday.
