Israeli officials accused of altering Al-Aqsa status

Jerusalem (Lord Media): Certain hardline Israeli officials and right-wing leaders are accused of attempting to alter the historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to international media reports, some factions are working on a proposal to declare Al-Aqsa as a ‘multi-faith worship site.’ Critics argue this move would oppose the Islamic Waqf’s management under Jordan’s supervision.

Currently, the status quo allows non-Muslims to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque, but religious worship is prohibited. Some Israeli politicians support Jewish prayers at the site. Right-wing leader Moshe Feiglin recently suggested constructing a new worship place within the mosque compound.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s multiple visits have drawn objections from Palestinian and Arab nations. Videos show Ben-Gvir waving the Israeli flag and asserting Israeli sovereignty over the mosque.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s office has denied claims of altering Al-Aqsa’s status, yet Palestinians and Jordan have expressed concerns. Deputy Head of the Islamic Waqf Council, Dr. Mustafa Abu Sway, warned that such attempts could endanger regional peace.

In the occupied West Bank, unknown Israeli settlers set fire to mosques in two Palestinian villages. A mosque near Ramallah suffered damage to its ablution area and other parts, with Hebrew slogans written on the walls. The Israeli military confirmed the suspects had fled.

These developments emerge amid rising tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories and global attention on the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
