Islamabad (Lord Media): With the arrival of Muharram, two-day public holidays are anticipated nationwide on June 25 and 26. The final announcement will be made following the moon sighting decision by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Astronomers have predicted that the 9th and 10th of Muharram, known as Ashura, are likely to fall on June 25 and 26, 2026.
The Government of Pakistan has announced public holidays across the country on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, contingent upon the moon sighting.
During these holidays, all government and private offices, banks, and educational institutions will remain completely closed.
A spokesperson for SUPARCO stated that the chances of sighting the Muharram moon on June 15 are limited, and the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 Hijri is likely to complete 30 days. If Muharram begins on June 17, Ashura will be on June 26.
