Iran submits 14-point proposal to US through Pakistan

Iran has submitted a 14-point counterproposal to the United States seeking a permanent end to hostilities and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, according to a report published by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

The report said the proposal was delivered through Pakistani intermediaries in response to a previously submitted nine-point U.S. plan.

According to Tasnim, Washington’s proposal called for a two-month ceasefire, while Tehran insisted on a 30-day framework aimed at resolving core disputes and achieving what it described as a permanent end to the conflict rather than a temporary truce.

Iran’s proposal reportedly includes demands for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas near Iranian borders and guarantees against future aggression.

The plan also seeks the lifting of a naval blockade, release of frozen Iranian assets, easing of sanctions and financial compensation.

In addition, the proposal calls for an end to hostilities on multiple fronts, including in Lebanon, along with the creation of a new governing mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s key oil shipping passages.

The report stated that Iran is now awaiting a formal response from U.S. officials.

Iranian state media earlier reported that Tehran had conveyed a fresh proposal for negotiations through Pakistan on Tuesday.

According to the report, the conflict began on February 28 after joint strikes by Israel and the United States targeted Tehran and other Iranian cities, leading to retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Iran on Israeli and U.S. interests in the region.

A ceasefire reportedly came into effect on April 8, followed by talks between Iranian and American delegations in Islamabad, which ended without a final agreement.
