Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan to boost trade ties

Bishkek (Lord Media): Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to enhance cooperation in trade and investment to strengthen bilateral relations. The agreement was reached during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz President Japarov, with a joint statement expressing satisfaction over the progress in Pakistan-Kyrgyz relations.

During President Zardari’s four-day visit to Kyrgyzstan, both leaders emphasized the need for effective implementation of previous agreements. They expressed a commitment to establishing a strategic partnership with a special focus on trade, economy, and investment.

According to the statement, relevant ministries and institutions have been instructed to accelerate joint efforts to boost bilateral trade, investment, and business links. The importance of effective implementation of the CASA-1000 project was also highlighted.

The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in mining, agriculture, textiles, health, vaccines, digital economy, and other sectors. There was also an agreement to improve transport, logistics, and transit connections.

Both countries agreed on joint measures against terrorism, drug trafficking, and cybercrime. They pledged to continue close cooperation at the United Nations and other international forums.
