Ankara (Lord Media): U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the lifting of sanctions on Turkey and agreed to the sale of F-35 fighter jets. During a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the 36th NATO summit in Ankara, the leaders discussed defense cooperation, regional security, and bilateral relations.

President Trump, speaking alongside President Erdogan, described him as a good friend and emphasized the strong relations between the U.S. and Turkey. He noted that under Erdogan’s leadership, Turkey has become a strong and influential nation.

Trump stated that he held detailed discussions with Erdogan on trade, bilateral relations, military cooperation, the situation in Iran, and other key regional issues. He expressed confidence that Turkey also desires to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Criticizing NATO, Trump expressed disappointment with the alliance, stating that he attended the summit due to Turkey’s hosting. He mentioned that while the U.S. spends billions on NATO, there was a lack of practical support when needed.

Regarding Turkey’s defense matters, Trump indicated significant decisions would be made about the sale of F-35 jets, expressing no concern over Turkey acquiring them.

On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump voiced optimism about resolving the Ukraine issue and hoped for an end to the war soon.

Discussing the Middle East, Trump mentioned that Turkey could have joined a war against Israel but did not, and he praised Syria’s new President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.

Trump announced the time has come to lift U.S. sanctions on Turkey, stating his administration is working with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior officials on this matter.
