Damascus (Lord Media): At least 18 people were injured in two bomb explosions in Damascus during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit. The blasts occurred near the hotel where Macron was meeting civil society representatives.
Reports indicate the first explosion happened as Macron’s convoy departed the hotel for the presidential palace, while the second blast occurred near an ambulance parked at the scene. Flames and black smoke were seen rising from nearby shops following the explosions.
Syrian security forces have launched a search operation to find those responsible for the incident, cordoning off the area and tightening security.
According to the French presidential office, the sound of the explosions did not reach Macron’s convoy, and journalists accompanying him did not witness any emergency situation. Macron has decided to continue with his scheduled engagements for the day.
