Tehran (Lord Media): Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral prayer was held in Qom following the ceremony in Tehran, drawing millions to the historic procession. According to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the funeral prayers for Ayatollah Khamenei and four of his family members were conducted at Jamkaran Mosque on the outskirts of Qom. A video released by the agency shows a large crowd of mourners at the mosque.
Iranian state television reported that the body of the former Supreme Leader was transported by helicopter from Tehran to Qom, where a funeral procession was held. A six-day period of national mourning is underway in Iran, set to conclude with the burial in Mashhad.
Yesterday, millions participated in the funeral and procession in Tehran. The bodies of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family members, who were killed in an attack, were carried on a large truck.
Hamid, a participant in the funeral, stated that the U.S. and Israel wanted to divide Iran, but our leader prevented it. Mourner Marzieh said they came to renew their pledge of loyalty.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s son and current Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was not seen at the funeral. Tehran University research fellow Mohammad Islami explained he could not attend due to the ongoing conflict.
Head of Emergency Services Jafar Mayadfar reported that medical aid was provided to more than 34,000 attendees. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on social media that Iran will continue on the path of progress.
After the ceremonies in Qom, the bodies will be taken to the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq on Wednesday, with the burial scheduled in Mashhad on Thursday.
