The Frontier Corps North Area (FCNA) has taken an important step towards promoting sports in Gilgit-Baltistan with the launch of the second FCNA Inter-District Gilgit-Baltistan Football Championship 2026.
The championship was formally inaugurated during a ceremony held at Lalaq Jan Stadium in Gilgit. The caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Commander FCNA attended the opening ceremony as chief guests.
The event was attended by government officials, social figures, military representatives and a large number of local residents, reflecting strong public interest in football and youth sports in the region.
A total of 17 teams from different districts and departments of Gilgit-Baltistan will participate in the championship.
Speakers at the ceremony praised the role of the Pakistan Army and FCNA in promoting football and providing opportunities for young talent in the region. They said such events help channel youth energy into positive activities and encourage healthy competition.
Participants and spectators described the football championship as an effective platform for identifying emerging talent and strengthening sports culture in Gilgit-Baltistan.
