Sindh craft festival opens on Friday at Port Grand

The annual Sindh Craft Festival celebrating the province’s culture, history, and heritage is set to begin tomorrow at Port Grand in Karachi. The three-day festival, organized by the Sindh government, will continue until November 30.

The festival will feature stalls displaying traditional Sindhi crafts, including ajrak, ralli, leather goods, Hala pottery, cultural clothing, Hyderabadi bangles, palm-leaf products, blue clay pottery, and embroidered items. Visitors will also witness live demonstrations of artisans creating these cultural products on site.

A special pavilion highlighting crafts from other provinces will also be part of the festival. Expert musicians will perform live on Sindh’s traditional instruments, while musical concerts featuring renowned national singers will be held each day. Performers include Sanam Marvi, Rajab Faqir, Diba Sahar, Mumtaz Molai, Khumariyan Band, Nadrat Mughal, and Khushboo Laghari.

In addition to music, popular comedians Asghar Khuso and Ali Gul Mallah will entertain the audience. Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah extended an invitation to the citizens of Karachi to participate in the festival. Key political and social leaders, ministers, and consuls from various countries are also expected to attend.

The festival offers a vibrant celebration of Sindh’s artistic and cultural legacy while promoting local craftsmanship to a wider audience.
