ISLAMABAD, Oct. 26 (Internews): Muhammad Irfan, an employee of a government agency under the Ministry of Information, disappeared from his house after receiving death threats from unknown armed men.
According to the sources, Muhammad Irfan, an employee of the Federal Ministry of Information’s subsidiary, is accused of having provided some sensitive information to the well-known journalist Arshad Sharif who was killed in Kenya three days ago.
A few months ago, Irfan was transferred from Islamabad to the tribal areas and the reason for this transfer was also being said to be the alleged contact between Mohammad Irfan and the slain journalist Arshad Sharif.
Since his transfer to the volatile tribal areas, Irfan has been receiving death threats from unknown persons.
Sources have revealed that a few days ago, some armed men entered the house of Irfan and his widowed mother and Younger siblings were held hostage in the house. The armed men stayed in the house for several hours and vandalized the belongings in the house.
