Well aware of Constitutional limits, expect others to uphold same: Army Chief

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir underscored the military’s commitment to constitutional boundaries during his address at the passing-out parade of cadets at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Asghar Khan Academy in Risalpur.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution, stating, “We are well aware of our constitutional limits and expect others to uphold the Constitution.”

Highlighting Article 19 of the Constitution, which delineates the boundaries of freedom of speech and expression, Gen Munir stressed that those who exceed these boundaries cannot criticize others.

He praised the PAF for its consistent dedication to national defense, noting that a robust air force is essential for safeguarding the nation against external threats.

Gen Munir commended the PAF’s valor and professionalism, particularly citing the exemplary response to the incursion of Indian aircraft into Pakistani airspace in February 2019. Addressing the cadets directly, he described them as the guardians of the skies and urged them to lead lives marked by character, courage, and competence.

He reminded the cadets of their duty to defend the nation’s honor and dignity, drawing parallels with the selfless sacrifices of past heroes like Rashid Minhas, Sarfraz Rafiqui, and M.M. Alam. Gen Munir urged the cadets to remain steadfast in their commitment to Pakistan and to uphold the values of truth and loyalty.

Regarding regional security challenges, he cautioned against the dangers of an arms race and highlighted the transformative impact of emerging technologies on air power.

Turning to global conflicts, Gen Munir condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir in their quest for freedom from Indian oppression.

In conclusion, the COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing moral, political, and diplomatic support to Kashmiris, emphasizing that their struggle for independence would not be silenced.
